Laundry Tips

NATURAL FIBRES

Natural fibres are the healthy choice and make a perfect first layer for children. They are soft and breathable, and suitable for the most sensitive skin. We love them because they move freely with the child and support them whether at sleep or play. When it comes to caring for natural fibres please choose your laundry detergent wisely, make sure it is suitable for your family and kind to our environment.

When it comes to caring for your products we always recommend you refer to the care instructions provided with your product.

CARING FOR ORGANIC COTTON ESSENTIALS

Organic Cotton reacts as nature intended it to, it breathes and moves with your child. Giving your garments a short wash or freshen after each wear will help restore the garments’ shape and keep it looking and feeling great for your child. To care for your cotton essentials please follow this tried and tested recipe:

turn the garment inside out to wash and dry

secure any zips and unfasten studs

wash with like colours, like fabrics and like garments

use a gentle and environmentally-friendly detergent

use the eco-setting on your washing machine or a quick wash when items need freshening, save the long wash for soiled items

never use bleach, detergents with a bleach additive or soak your items

stains should be removed by hand using colour-free fragrance-free soap flakes applied as a paste, and gently massaged prior to wash

warm machine wash to a maximum of 40 degrees

do not twist or wring

do not tumble dry*

line dry your whites in the sun, it is good for the environment and anti-bacterial

if preserving the colour of your garment is important to you we recommend line drying in the shade

iron on reverse using a low setting

do not dry clean

*we appreciate that in cooler climates line drying may not be possible. In this case, tumble dry on a low setting. Please be aware that applying the heat setting during a tumble dry will result in shrinkage of up to 10% in some cases.

Treating stains, Cotton

Early intervention to stains is crucial to their ultimate removal from your garment. Using simple and gentle pure soap, free of fragrance and colour, along with a little warm water and gentle massage will do the trick. Immediately follow with a long wash in the machine and it will be good as new. Be careful not to wring, pull or scrub too hard as you will compromise the fit and appearance of your garment. Adding soap flakes to warm water and making a paste is also an effective way to remove a stain. Follow immediately with a warm machine wash.

CARING FOR MERINO WOOL

Our Merino Wool is machine washable and unlike Cotton it retains its shape so you are able to wash it less frequently if you choose. You will need a wool-approved liquid laundry detergent that is both gentle for your family and the environment. Here’s how to care for your Merino Wool products:

turn the garment inside out to wash and dry

secure any zips and unfasten studs

wash with like colours, like fabrics and like garments

only ever use a wool approved liquid detergent

never soak your items or use detergents or bleach

stains should be removed by hand using colour-free fragrance-free soap flakes applied as a paste, and gently massaged (no rubbing) prior to wash

gentle cold hand wash, do not twist or wring, gently pull back into shape if necessary

or, machine wash on a wool cycle to a maximum of 40 degrees, slow spin

do not tumble dry

dry flat in the shade

cool iron under a cloth

do not dry clean

Treating stains, Merino

Good news, Merino is naturally stain resistant so it’s extremely unlikely you will incur a stain you won’t be able to move. Having said that children are extremely creative when it comes to stains and so we have come up with a plan just in case. Take pure soap flakes, free from fragrance and colour, and add warm water to make a paste. Gently massage the paste into the stain, never rub, twist or wring the garment. Follow immediately with a wool wash cycle in your washing machine, using wool-approved liquid detergent.
